Stick to it Religiously: Stick to your strategy and work hard and snmart with it. Ensure to be flexible, if you find a need to adjust or readjust and you’re sure its the way to go then feel free to allow for change. The aim of a strategy is to help you stick to a plan to grow and expand not to cage or imprison you.
Design a Landing Page: A landing page is a dedicated page create to capture leads. It is created with the sole aim to attract visitors to give their contact information in exchange for a free gift. All the images and copy on the page is designed to encourage and persuade prospect to give their contact information. The information is later used for email marketing. If you need help with your landing page copy we are glad to help.
Get an Autoresponder: An autoresponder is a software that manages a mailing list on your behalf. It saves you time and does some of the things you are suppose to have been doing.
The autoresponder is what you will use to create your opt-in form (where prospect will fill in their name, email, phone number). The autoresponder receives the data and saves it in a safe database. The autoresponder is also where you will send messages that automatically carries the name of each subscriber (instead of a generic message for all your subscribers) without using the BCC function of your email.
Autoresponders also give you lots of information regarding your emails you send, like delivery rate, open rate, click through rate, bounce rate and unsubscribe rate. So you can know exactly what your messaging impact is and make appropriate adjustments to improve or fix a problem.
Finding the best email marketing (autoresponder) provider
There are free and paid autoresponders, decide which you want to go for. The free versions won’t give you the best of features to take advantage of.
The paid versions gives you great features and control. You will also have the tech team to help you fix any bug if the need arises, sometimes they will even help you setup the system for free. Some give you 30 days free trial with all the features and if you enjoy you can then pay.
Good customer service: The provider you choose should be committed enough to serve you when you have questions or a glitch while using their product.
You can find out by asking around, reading reviews or contacting them to see how they respond.
High deliverability: Most email marketing providers have high delivery of your sent emails.
They also give you feedback on each set of emails you send. This is a very important feature of a good autoresponder.
Ease of use: The essence of technology is ease if it’s too difficult to use why pay for it.
Data analytics: The autoresponder should be able to give you valuable stats like the open rate, link clicks, delivery rate, bounce rate, unsubscribe rate.
Some of the email marketing providers you can consider are Aweber, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Hubspot (expensive but exceptional), ConvertKit, Getresponse, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign.
Setting Up your Autoresponder
Create your welcome message:
This is very important. When you have a prospect subscribe for your newsletters an automatic welcome message is sent to let him or her know what to expect and if you have a free gift you let him know how to get it. Take time to craft a good welcome message. Make it fun and reassuring.
Create a lead magnet: A lead magnet is a free gift you offer to the visitors on your landing page or website in exchange for their private details. Take time to create a lead magnet that your prospects will really want to have. It could be anything but something that won’t cost you a fortune to send. It could be a guide, a report, an eBook etc. Just make sure it’s something digital.
Create your subscription (opt-in) form: Every good autoresponder provider have a guide to help you in creating the form created in text form or video, sometimes both. So this should not be a problem at all. Just make sure you do the following as you create it:
The form fields should be few, 2 to 3 is perfect – full names, active email address and maybe phone number.
The subscribe or submit button should be prominent. Use colour to make it stand out.
Have a strong call-to-action (CTA): Like the name it is the statement that tells your visitors what exactly you want them to do. It should be short but strong. Tell them the value they will gain subscribing. Don’t just say, subscribe to my email list. Tell them why. Tell them the value of the gift you are offering.
Assure them you won’t spam or sell their details to a third party.
Activate double opt-in: This will ensure that the prospect gives you a working email and he is serious about the offer you have for him. This is also the standard practice in email marketing. A prospect should consciously permit you to send them mails. Its called “Permission Marketing”.
Test it: Test to see that the system is working fine. Subscribe with your email and see how it goes. If it works fine then its time to move forward.
Place it in a prominent position: There are several very good places to place your opt-in form on your website. I will cover comprehensively the best places on a coming post in this series so make sure you hang around.
